This historic pub, located in Bathwick, was founded in 1759 and the owners are proud of the original gas lamps which caused some issues when gas fitters were unsure on how to repair them given their age. The pub is popular with those wanting to watch live rugby and there are also quizzes which are held every Monday evening. There’s a good selection of wines and there are usually around five real ales available, often with some interesting options.

The chicken, leek and ham hock pie is recommended, as are the traditional sausages and mash.

The pub is open from 12.00 until 15.00 and from 17.00 until 23.00 on Mondays to Wednesdays, from 12.00 until 15.00 and from 17.00 until 00.00 on Thursdays, from 12.00 until 00.00 on Fridays & Saturdays and from 12.00 until 22.30 on Sundays.
